About the photo
We had stopped for night Lappland on Naturrastplats Koulitisjaure near the Norwegian-Swedish border. The sun sets pretty late in summer there (22:42 on photo), so I had lots of time to scout the area after setting our camp. Beautiful place!
About the place
(wikipedia)
Alpine tundra in Swedish Lapland. Alpine tundra does not contain trees because the climate and soils at high altitude block tree growth. Alpine tundra is distinguished from arctic tundra in that alpine tundra typically does not have permafrost, and alpine soils are generally better drained than arctic soils.
