Here are some photo's taken at the end of September from some of the steeper vineyards around Wallhausen in Rhineland-Paladine Germany.
Along the outskirts of the Hunsrück you can find a lot of abandoned vineyards. It seems that they were abandoned because they cant be worked in with machinery because they are too steep.
I once had read that this was very unfortunate because some thought that the best wine was made from grapes of these steepest vineyards.

So, these vineyards here are an exception to this! The vintner's had formed terraces for each row of vine so they can use their tractor's and harvesting machines in these.
