We woke up to an amazing morning, the evening wasn't very cold and we had a nice strong wind which blew all the clouds away. I am a sucker for stars so I could not resist taking a few shots.
We headed out about 6am for the hike up to one of the highest points in the area. For the next few hours we where headed up and up and even more up. We were lucky enough to be going along a river for the most part.
We somehow lost the trail nearing the top and ended up walking on an animal path, looked so much like the trail. We eventually got to the top and took a break looking at the area we came from... thinking to myself I thought "did we really just do that?!"
In the picture above we were not yet at the top, but you can see the valley went down in. There were some lovely animals to see as we hiked down the mountain. Nearing the end we could see the caves and the area we hiked up the first day, the view from where we were was even better than the first day.
As most of our hiking trips go, we always have some struggle on the way to the place or on the way back. We drove right into a huge storm and even got to watch how the clouds were turning to start forming a tornado. We did not stay to watch that as we were in the Free State where it is nice and flat, perfect for tornadoes.
