I took this photo with a disposable camera back in the summer of 2001 in the Big Horn Mountain Range in Wyoming. If I recall it was a couple days walk from Bomber Mountain or it was closer.
As you can tell the photo has taken a thrashing over the years. It suffered some damage from moving a few times, and another from falling off the wall.
I’m standing on a very large rock about halfway up it to get that view. It was early morning and the fog was still clearing up. With the sun slowly making its way into the peaks and valleys around the area.
I can almost recall the birds still chirping happily away at the rise of the sun.
It was during a two-week backpacking trip with the Scouts and it was one of the best summers of my life. We spent two days resting and day-hiking at this location. There were some clearings nearby where we had a couple of camps set up.
I did some fishing on that lake but never had any luck.
It’s hard to beat breathing fresh mountain air and drinking chilly crystal clear water from such a lake.
I keep it on my bookshelf as a friendly reminder of something I would love to go out and do again one day. It will be a couple of years before I’m back in shape for taking on such an adventure in life.
