Guys, I just saw itty bitty little baby aurora borealis and you have no idea how happy I'm about it!
I've been living above the 65th parallel north for a few months and today was the first time I saw northern lights here! I know there have been some amazing ones but for whatever reason I haven't been out and about to see them right at that moment.
We were coming back home from walking the dog and I saw the faintest little hint of green behind the trees. I know which way is north and that there is less light pollution that way so I was pretty sure the green glow was aurora borealis. I rushed inside to get my camera and hastily set it up for a longer exposure.
If you are feeling a little jealous of this sighting, know that the two images here are 6 and 13 second exposures, so it wasn't even this nice for the naked eye. I know this is not anything impressive but I was excited like a child because auroras are just so magical and it's been years since the last time I saw them.
Shot with the Nikon D750 and Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8.
