If you are familiar with my modelling work, you know I only pose for my own camera, because I want to be in full control of the image.
Being a one woman show is both my power, and my downfall. I would probably benefit from sometimes letting other people help me and teach their ways. When someone does as much self portraits as I do, you get stuck in your own way of post prosessing them, always in the same manner. Even though that is part of creating ones own style and brand, it might also make your work a little boring and stop you from progressing.
On our Danger Zone meetup last weekend, which you are tired of hearing about, me and @Rubencress bonded over our mutual interest in photography. Him being a professional at it, I picked his brain about post process when I had the chance. We didn’t have much time for that but he already tought me a few very useful things.
Before I get more rambly, I’ll try to get to the point of this post. We were chatting with Ruben earlier today, and I showed him some of the images I took out in the forest, and he asked if I would let him Photoshop them. Instead of my usual ”NO!”, I send him the raw files and let him do what ever he wanted to them. It was pretty scary in a way because I’m so protective over myself and my photography. This is me taking a babystep towards maybe even letting a professional photograph me, in the future.
I of course wanted to share these images to you, because it might be just as interesting for you to see, than it is for me. Let us know what you think about these.
Rubens style is very different from mine, but I actually really like what he did to my images. His way of using colours is something that I wouldn’t even imagine, let alone know how to do. I often stick to very natural tones, which you have probably noticed. I’ll upload my own images from this Pixie set in a few days, I’m not sure yet if I will use the exact same ones as in this, but there will be similar ones, and a lot more.
This is why I love photography, there is so much you can photograph and such different ways and unique perspectives to take when photoshopping them. We can learn so much from each other!
Make sure to go follow @Rubencress, if you don't already!
Photography and modelling by me, with the Nikon D7200 and Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8, post process by @Rubencress.
I hope you enjoyed our impromptu collaboration!
The SBD rewards from this post will go to @Rubencress for his post process work, and for answering all the photography related questions I will bug him with in the near future. Yeah, that wasn’t originally the deal but I just changed the rules! 😝
