Yesterday I posted a distinctive doors post featuring the unique and beautiful entrance to the Chrysler building in New York City. Today I am going to take you inside, because you simply wont believe what it looks like! It truly is a time capsule! It represents a time where opulence and status were synonymous with success, but not just in individual lifestyle, but in workplace too. These days you tend to walk into a featureless glass building that prioritises function over style. Not in the Chrysler building!
You've seen the front entrance yesterday, but check out the other side of that front door! I had to tone down the colors a little bit in my shots because it was so bright. 8 different types of exotic woods are used in the lobby. Everything is covered in wood panelling and the design of the space in terms of shape, lighting and the wood panelling are considered the paragon of the art deco style.
Just drink it in...
Look at the ceiling design above the entrance...
I had to zoom out and get a shot of the lobby pillars too, i love how they have incorporated the lights into them like that.. stunning.
When we left the building I managed to get a reflection shot from the building across the street... that was fun.
But to get a shot of the iconic spire, I had to walk a few blocks down the road. It is 107 stories tall after all!
If you are ever in NYC I recommend taking 10 minutes out of your day and having a quick peek inside the lobby of the Chrysler building. Its on Lexington avenue behind Grand Central Terminal and its worth it. Nothing quite compares to seeing it in person and if you are a fan of the Art Deco style like I am, you'll certainly enjoy it!
Thanks for Looking.
