My parents have a nice fireplace and I really like to watch the fire and the warmth it gives. In my future flat I also want a fireplace since it is a very nice heat and not only the heat but also the feeling of the warm fire on your skin is something that can be very satisfying. Very different to a radiator and the warmth you can get from it.
Because fire is for a lot of people associated with good food and warmth, making a fire like this is always putting a smile and a nice anticipation for good food in your mind. And for me it is associated with something positive every time I hear, smell and see it. If course it can also be destructive but if you have a positive connection to it you will probably always have a smile on your face when getting in "touch" with it.
The erratic movements of the flames are always different and It is really beautiful how many different shapes it can form burning.
