Yesterday i found an interesting pin on Pinterest where a photographer took amazing shots of frozen flowers. I think this is a nice idea so i went out to sear for some flowers in the garden and froze them over night in my refrigerator. Today when i came home from work i couldn't await to see the frozen flowers and i took them out of the refrigerator, I was immediately a bit shocke about the "Quality of the Ice" but this didn't stop me from experimenting a bit with my Camera. I am not yet satisfied with the results and i think i need to figure out a way how to make the ice not so dizzy and more transparent.
But the Ice should also not be too transparent because otherwise i wouldn't need it and i could take a picture without the ice. So there is this thin line between having the ice transparent and still recognizing it as Ice on a picture. I will deffinitely experiment a bit more with Ice to get a perfect balance between transparancy and this "Icy look". I also had a little Problem on setting the focus of the Macro lens because i still don't know if it is better to focus on the flower or the icy layer that is often a bit infront of the flower. I think it is more important to get the focus on the flowers, the next thing i have to worry is the diffraction blur that occours because of the Ice.
Maybe the solution is a Ice with 2 Layers, one completely transparent and a second one in the background that has this dizzy foggy appearance. I will definitely have to try some different methods of freezing the water or even some other liquid than water if necessary. I also read something about very slowly freezing the ice so i might also have to play with the Temperature of my freezer. This will definitely be some fun for rainy days. :-)
