From Dam Square we will enter the Kalverstraat which is 1 kilometre long and on both sides you can find shops.
Kalverstraat has 15 side streets / passages. We will take the one that goes to Leidseplein so we can make a pitstop at Vleminckx.
Vlemminckx
Is a sauce master that sells home made Belgian fries whit a variety of choice in sauces. It is know as the best fries store in Amsterdam. There is almost all the time a row and nobody minds it. If you visit Amsterdam this is actually a must. Set your navigation on 'Voetboogstraat 33' or just look for a long row to find it.
On our way to Leidseplein we come across the famous flower market of Amsterdam. You can take this side street to visit. Let's take a little detour.
The flower market of Amsterdam is on the world heritage list of Unesco. Flower growers came on little boats to bring their flowers in the centre of Amsterdam. This started in 1862. De flower market today is still on boats, but they are stationary as you can see in the picture above. It is a nice place for flower enthusiasts.
And do not be surprised if you see something like this. We are crazy about our cheese.
It is time to continue our walk towards the Leidseplein. Here are some pictures of our road towards there.
See you in the next episode!
