We may not be able to control what happens around us or what kind of weather we will have today, but we still have control over what we do with it. That was what came to mind this afternoon when the rain started to pour heavily again.
Because of the rain, I had to stay home for a while. It was not really a bad thing, but it did change the flow of the day. Instead of going out, I simply waited for the rain to settle. When it finally calmed down, I took the opportunity to go outside and capture a few photos.
The garden looked different after the rain. The leaves were wet, the raindrops were resting quietly on their surfaces, and some details became more noticeable. In black and white, these small scenes looked even more interesting. The contrast between the droplets, leaves, and shadows gave the photos a calm yet dramatic feeling.
I guess this is one of the good things about photography. It teaches me to respond to the moment instead of complaining about it. A heavy rain may seem like an inconvenience at first, but it can also create beautiful subjects if we are willing to look at it differently.
Life is the same in many ways. We cannot control every situation, but we can choose how to react. Sometimes, what feels like a delay or an interruption can turn into a chance to notice something meaningful.
Today’s rain reminded me that even when things do not go as planned, there is still something we can make out of the moment.
Have a good day ahead.
