Duddingston’s gem is the loch wildlife reserve and secret garden where it really feels like you’re not in Edinburgh at all. Perfect for unwinding walks and romantic thoughts, both are situated in the shadow of a dormant volcano and the loch is home to a range of animals including deer and otter. Duddingston truly is an oasis away from the sounds of a European city and is perfect for a moment to relax. I feel so lucky to come from such a green place and yet remain so close to the heart of a European city. I took this photo from the north east shore of the loch.
