When we were planning our trip to South Korea early this year, we made sure to include Busan in our itinerary. It seems like it is the second most popular city in South Korea for tourists aside from Seoul. Busan, as per our research, is the second most populous city in South Korea and ninth busiest cities in the world.
And kudos to the hit Korean zombie movie, Train to Busan, which made the city even more well-known! (confirmed: no zombies there! teehee!☺)
With only a short day trip to spend, we ended up only going to Gamcheon Culture Village and Jalgachi Fish Market.
Gamcheon Culture Village was a memorable one which was a village with colorful small houses built side by side along the slope of a coastal mountain. It is a town at Gamcheon-dong, Saha District, Busan, South Korea. It is known for its twisting alleys and streets with brightly painted houses. This village was reborn as a cultural hub to attract tourism, being Busan's most colorful and artistic spot.♥
We went there by KTX from Seoul Station. And from Busan KTX station we walked (trekked will be the best term to describe what we've done) to Gamcheon Culture Village because according to Google maps its only a 10-15minute walk.
But our legs weren't prepared for this workout! It turns out to be some kind of a steep hike! If anyone is planning to go there, please take the bus! We learned the hard way. -_-
When we arrived, we were greeted by artsy signages!
There are lots of small shops there, but unfortunately, most of them were closed when we went there. But nevertheless, taking pictures of it totally worth it! We were contented by appreciating the way they presented their shops in a vibrant, artsy manner.
And surprisingly a lot of their art there is inspired by the French novel, The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, which makes the village a bit more whimsical!
I think most people will enjoy the wonderful vista of the small houses painted in vibrant colours. Sometimes it just takes a little bit of whimsicality and colours to bring out the little kid that we forget we have inside of us!
