Today was the first day of the kids' Thanksgiving/Fall Break. The weather was perfect for an outdoor outing so we headed to the zoo with my sister and her daughter.
Our attempt at a group photo
We didn't make it through the whole place to see all of the animals but we had fun visiting the ones we did see; minus the amount of fits and tired and moody kiddo moments!
Here are a few photos from our adventure!

She was extremely upset about having to wait her turn... sucks to be the youngest sometimes. ;-)
The first fight/fit/melt-down of the day. Lol.

The Howler Monkeys. These things were so loud! The sound was a bit eery.

I love the detail in this sculpture and wanted to capture it.

While we were grabbing lunch my oldest wanted to try and take a picture. He was having a pretty emotional day so I nervously let him take my very expensive equipment. He actually got some great shots and it drastically improved his mood! Art in any form can be good therapy and I'm happy that he enjoyed it.
The Photographer!
Here are a few of his captures!
He spent a great deal of time setting these images up. He posed each of us, told us where to put our hands and how to tilt our heads. It was cute.
This photographer mom is beaming right now! This kid has a talent for this. He has never used a dslr and he was able to focus on his subjects and frame his photos well. He's done as well, his first time, as many of my students do after shooting for quite some time! I love his style too! It's unique! With a few lessons and some more practice I think he's going to be pretty great.
He now knows what he wants for Christmas and he's already planning weekly photo walk dates with mom! I think we found a good therapeutic outing for both of us to do regularly!
