This evening, after a wonderful night grilling food with friends, I came home to my house, where I had no lights on. I went straight to the kitchen to grab a water. I turned on the light to find this creature on the wall.
This is known as a Huntsman Spider. Though they are common in tropical places like Florida, it is not often that you will just see them out in the open in your home. The size of it (it was about 5 -6 inches tall) can catch you off guard.
Luckily, they are not a serious danger to humans. Though it hurts quite bad to get bit by one, you wouldnt have risk of death...unless of course you are allergic to spider bites. They just leave a significant size bite and swelling on the skin. Still, it is not something you want to have a tickle fight with.
Even though I don't like to kill living creatures, this little fella was not made for this world, so I sent him to play with other spiders at a farm upstate...so to speak. Ergo, they dead!
It is really fun to get close-up shots of living things, but this is still not a scenario you want to walk into a dark house to.
It is also safe to say I didn't want to test the theory that getting bit by a spider will turn you into Spiderman!
