Today I was able to capture some shots of a Vervet monkey while traveling around on safari! It was so awesome to see one in the wild, for I have never seen one before, living in Florida.
The male Vervets often move along to different packs throughout their lifetime. On the other hand, a female Vervet never leaves the pack that they are born into. Vervets are considered to be what is known as an "old world" monkey, for they were talked about even in the ancient Egypt civilizations.
They feed on mostly leaves, fruits and other wild seeds. From watching them, I have also known them to be full of energy! Though they are not a danger to humans, per se, many locals are not fans of these monkeys. They are considered scavengers, so many of the people here try to make them leave when they see them.
Such a cool animal to see in real life! If you ever get a chance to travel to Africa, make sure you do. It is unreal how amazing this place is.
One love,
