I had talked about my eventful visit to the Jurong Bird Park in Singapore, and it was a fabulous experience. The Jurong Bird Park is part of the Wildlife Reserves Singapore Group, which also happens to include 3 other famous attractions and one of them is the Singapore Zoo. With this blog I want to share about the awesome and interesting beasts I got to encounter at one of the best zoos I've ever visited.
The zoo in Singapore, like most of the attractions there, is well-planned and easily accessible. The zoo is spread over a huge area of land, almost 70 acres, and we had a great time seeing the various animals there. I got to know that the zoo houses more than 330 species of animals, including birds and reptiles.
We got to see lots of primates.
Like all the parks, the zoo also has clearly marked and handy maps. There are several feeding programs and other shows which happen at different times of the day, some where visitors are allowed to greet and feed the eager and hungry animals. I enjoyed watching some of the live feedings, and even participated in a few but due to the conflict of timings, I wasn’t able to visit each one of the exhibits during the feeding time as it was not possible even though we had access to the trams.
The best part about the zoo is that it has created a naturalized environment for the animals, and most of the exhibits are open, i.e. one can easily observe the animals albeit from a safe distance. It almost feels that we are in a real rain-forest. The handlers of the various animals take real good care of them, and tend to be possessive and protective about the animals under their care.
We got to see rhinos, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes and a host of other wild animals.
We had an incredible time at the zoo, and after witnessing all the great things the zoo has to offer, no wonder it gets tons of visitors on a daily basis.
Below are some more interesting animals we encountered.
Singapore zoo is well-maintained, family-friendly and one can spend an entire day there. I wouldn't mind visiting it again someday!
Hope you enjoyed meeting some of the animals I encountered at the Singapore Zoo.
