The great blue heron, found in most of North and Central America, except in the far North of Canada.
In Florida and the Caribbean they are white, once considered a separate species.
Being mostly grey, the pictured heron is probably a juvenile.
A long beak with orange on the bottom and black on top.

prey on small fish mostly, but like most animals is opportunistic and will eat amphibians or
small mammals.
