The funfair is in town here in Luzern and people are excited about it! Kiddy games, rollercoasters, ferriswheels and foooooooood! I love the sight of funfairs with the lights everywhere, especially if it is reflecting in the water like this.! When you look in the water you even see the Swiss national symbol in the middle while you don't see it on the original ferriswheel.
To be honest, I don't really go in attractions but I really like to walk around. Also the international food stands are super appealing to give everything a try. AND!!! I even found a Dutch snacks stand, so I ordered some poffertjes (small pancakes with butter and powdered sugar) and surely will be back later in the week for the greasy Dutch snacks which I haven't had in a while :)
Language and funfairs!
The funny thing is that funfairs are for everybody from every country. But being internationally orientated myself sometimes is the challenge itself when shifting through the languages. It sometimes gets so confusing, and even more when I am tired. Let me run you through a normal say of switching languages:
A text from a English friend-> Did you already go to the funfair?
Me sending to a Dutch friend -> Ben je al naar de kermis geweest?
A German colleague asked me-> Bist du schon zur Messe gegangen?
And another Swiss colleage asked me -> Bis scho chilbi gsi?
