A new exhibition is loading and I need to be prepared.
I will be taking part (hopefully) if some or any of my photos are selected by the instructors.
In class we have started to do more interesting but also challenging workshops and discuss more about Photography. Photography has always been more than a single frozen moment. Photography is about the story it conveys.
Sometimes one image is enough to tell a story, but sometimes a second or third frame reveals connections, contrasts, emotions, and hidden meanings that a lone photograph cannot fully express. A photographer is more than an artist, they are a story teller. And to achieve this, one image is not always enough.
For our exhibition, we are asked to provide images for three different themes.
Heraklion, Diptychs, Elderly
I can easily do the 1, and maybe 2 .. but not sure about the third one.
In this post, I will explore some options about diptychs (or triptychs)
Do you know what this word means? Have you ever used it?
The word diptych comes from the Greek “δίπτυχον” (díptychon), meaning “folded in two.” In the ancient world, diptychs were often made from two hinged wooden panels covered with wax, used for writing notes, official records, or religious art. Later, during the Byzantine and medieval periods, artists used diptychs to create devotional works that connected two scenes or ideas together.
A triptych follows the same concept but with three connected panels. The term comes from the Greek “τρίπτυχον” (tríptychon), meaning “folded in three.” Triptychs became especially important in religious art across Europe, where central panels were often surrounded by two complementary scenes that expanded the story visually.

The problem I have lately is that I cannot find much time to plan new photos, unless I am at a specific place, where I shoot what is around me. So I cannot set up new images, so for the upcoming exhibition I will need to work with what I have and send them up to the 31st of May.

Happy Sunday!
