A cycle of natural changes
Have you ever felt the seasonal changes within yourself? I have, many times.
I think the seasons symbolise life in many ways, but it also affects our lives and more specifically our emotions. In Sweden, we have very distinct differences between the seasons, which make us change mood several times a year...
Springtime -new life is born
Every year in March-April I can feel it... I feel hope and joy. New life is developing all around. Fresh flowers, birds building new homes for their babies to come. New buds all around.
Most people feel happy and start to go outside. You meet smiling people all around. Everyone is waking up, just like nature does.
Summer is the time of maturity and celebration
In summer time we experience evenings that never end, in Sweden the sun is up until after midnight and comes back 2-3 AM. Ligther times and lots of parties, weddings and of course: vacation. We live like never before. We seize the day and live our lives in a much slower pace. And above all this -a feeling of joy and happiness. Nature is in full bloom. So are we:-)
Autumn -beautiful and filled with melancholy

All the greenery dies, the first frost kills most plants in my garden. Except the roses<3 The trees turn into burning colours and the evenings gets much darker, fast. In September, the sun sets around 8 PM... Many people suffer from Depressions in autumn and winter. Darker days have a negative impact on many peoples mood and you become much more tired.
As a photographer autumn is a fantastic time though. The colours are breathtaking and also I must say the air is fresh and cool. I kind of like the autumn when it has begun. The opening period with dying plants is sad for me but later on I love the freshness.
Winter -whiteness in a magic wonderland

I wish... Past few years we haven't had much snow here. Which makes the winter very dark. Sun sets at 4 PM in December, which is NOT nice. During January and February most people walk around in a kind of daze, longing for lighter days. The nature is dead, no plants or other things are alive outdoors. Which makes many people feel a bit low, and tired. We feel cold and frozen and prefer to hide inside. Nature normaly hide under a snowy blanket.
But a white winterland is also a magic landscape, filled with light. When the snow arrives it is a nice time to go out skiing, or taking photos, playing with the kids. I like snow a lot!
Nature and humans are related
Of course many other things affects our mood, but I personally are rather sensitive about weather and seasonal changes. Every season has it's beauty of course, but the mood outside affects how I feel inside. We are a part of nature as humans and I think many of us in this modern world are not aware of this. Or do not care or do not have believe in it. However if you have an open mind and scan your surroundings you might be able to feel some of the mood in nature. Negative feelings and depressions are not good things but still: the same happens in nature and is things that pass us by during life. And of course it is important to find the joy and beauty in autumn and winter as well, or what do you believe?
