What’s up, Steemit? I’m hangin’ out with at
, immersing myself […as much as one can immerse themselves while helping a second grader with homework and curate new games on his iPad]. We’re leading straight in to the holiday’s and of course, I’m stressed. Money […although it’s nice to see some green in the markets again], time, and family. i’m thrilled to be staying home for the holiday’s this year, though. Last year,
and I flew from the east coast to Minneapolis on Christmas Day. I’m looking forward to waking up, coming downstairs and watching him open gifts under the tree. Afterwards, we’ll be visiting family, most likely ending the day with
friends.
Speaking of holiday’s, I have a couple of New Year’s goals. I wouldn’t call them resolutions. Firstly, I’m finally going to delete Facebook. I know that should be an easy one for anyone using Steemit, but there are those few hold our reasons I’ve been hesitant. There are a few friends and family that sadly, it’s the only way I can easily communicate with them. Also, that ecosystem does play a role in my ability to make a living. With crypto down so far, it’s a tough decision, but as far as I’m concerned, the repeated privacy abuses, predatory practices and complicit attitude towards their platform being weaponized outweighs the benefits.
The other goal is to finish all my Viva Las Vegas clients still owed photos by the end of this year. That means in the next couple of weeks, I have to complete work roughly eight clients. It sounds easy, but keep in mind, one image takes me a minimum of two hours to edit and process. Each of these clients is still owed between three to five photos, so with all the other things happening, comic projects, etc., it’s an ambitious goal, but I think I can do it. Viva represents my busiest time of the year, and I need to make sure I’m starting 2019 without any of that work hanging over my head.
The photos I have to share today are part of that goal. Lucy Fur is a UK pinup model I’ve worked with one other time. We shot together again at Viva this past April, and I’m happy to say, as of tonight, I’ve finished the last photos I still owed her. Lucy is a sweet model that comprises everything you’d imagine in the ideal pinup. She truly loves the rockabilly scene, and modeling tends to be a big part of that. This shoot happened under very stressful circumstances included a last minute location change, but it all worked out brilliantly. I’m so happy that send her the few edits I still owed, especially before the holiday.
Thanks for reading. Just a quick State of the Union remark regarding Trail by Comics, the contest. I haven’t forgotten. I’m drawing the artwork for the new theme and it’s giving me a surprising amount of trouble. As I’ve said, I choose these themes based on what I feel like drawing, an I wouldn’t have anticipated this being so hard. Should make for a great theme for the comics and art community. I’ll have it posted soon, promise, and a new edition of Trial by Comics: Exposé. For more photography, art, illustration and the stories behind the work, follow me here !
