저는 대학생때 필리핀으로 어학연수를 간 적이 있습니다. 언어를 배우기에는 짧은 시간이었고, 그 나라의 문화와 그나라 사람들의 삶에 대해서 많이 배우고 온 거 같아요.
I went to Philippines for language training when I was in college. It's been a short time to learn languages, and I think I've learned a lot about the culture of that country and the lives of its people.
저는 일로일로 시티라는 아주 작은 도시에서 연수를 받았습니다. 필리핀에서 어학연수로 인기가 있는 곳은 마닐라, 세부, 바기오, 클락 정도가 있는데요. 제가 간 일로일로시티는 아주 작고 여행을 갈 곳이 많은 도시 였어요.
I was educated in a very small city called Iloilo City. The most popular places for language training in the Philippines are Manila, Cebu, Bagio, and Clark. The Iloilo City I went to was a very small city with many places to travel.
문화적으로 충격을 받은 것은 마을의 입구나 백화점, 매장의 입구를 지키고 있는 가드였어요. 아주 작은 권총부터 시작해서 크게는 샷건까지 들고 매장을 지키고 있더라구요. 큰 매장뿐만 아니라 빵집이나 스타벅스와 같은 카페에서도 마찬가지였습니다.
The culture shock was the guard guarding the village entrance, department store, and store entrance. He started with a very small pistol, and he was guarding the store with a shotgun. Not only did they do it in big stores, but also in cafes like bakery and Starbucks.
하지만 이런 것이 문화의 차이라는 것을 인식하고 다시 갈때는 나름 괜찮아졌어요. ㅎㅎ 이런 다른 문화를 경험하면서 다른 나라의 문화도 경험하고 싶어서 이곳 저곳 다니고 있는데, 다른 나라의 문화를 배우고 느끼는 것은 정말 좋은 경험인거 같아요 !!
But when I realized that this was a culture gap, it became good again. As I want to experience these different cultures, I want to experience the culture of other countries. I think learning and feeling the culture of other countries is a really good experience!
