While we should be penetrating the Holy Spirit’s way and conscious of His conviction on our hearts, we can never establish our emotions over the truths of who God is and what His message declares.
Jeremiah 17:9 informs us “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure…” Our hearts can lure us by getting us to believe that God has forsaken us when the truths of His Word say He will never abandon us nor desert us (Hebrews 13:5).
Our emotions might tell us that God is displeased with us and will not grant us another opportunity, but the truths of His Word show us “there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1).
Base your faith not on your hearts, but on the realities of Who God is and what He declares in His Word. Your emotions steadily hesitate but the details about God (He is genuine, He is kind, He is all-powerful, He is in charge of all things) never change.
