This historical market is Mercat de Sant Antoni. Built in 1882, it is one of few markets that were built in Barcelona in the end of 19th century. They were based on French modern design that allowed for better sanitary conditions, more space for the traders and their intention was to boost and support local traders. This one was designed in the form of cross.
This memorial left on the wall is to commemorate the victims of fascist bombardment of Barcelona during Spanish Civil War in 1938. You can still see the holes left in the wall by shrapnel. The place is near 50 Carrer Del Carme.
