I really love the stars and wish I could take better pictures of them, but these photos were the best I can do and they are not to bad for a Canon PowerShot A810 camera. All these pictures I took at the Golden Gate hut in the Drakensburg Mountain range while doing a two day hike there.
This first photo I took at about 8 pm and it shows the Milky-way which is the really light and really dark bit. The tail of Scorpius can be seen on the bottom left corner as well as Sagittarius in the middle and the Southern Crown just above it to the left.
The second and last photo I took at 3 am when there was no light at all. The dark section is mountains and right between them in the center, the Southern Cross can be seen.
This last picture is not clear, but it is of Orion. I think it came out like that because the stars seem to rotate faster, closer to the horizon, but I am not sure of that one, my exposure time may have just been a bit to long.
