After a ~4 hours Bustrip on a plastic chair I arrived Gijrokasta. The Bus was full, so I have to sit on this stool in the aisle. There is no security needed :-D
History: The castle on the Hill was settled in the 3. century BC. In the 6. century AD the city become more popular. The City Antigoneia on the other side of the drino- valley was destroyed (more of Antigoneia in the next post). Enough History in this post.
The city is similar to Berat (See last Posts) but smaller and nicer in my view. A lot of traditional Osman buildings dominatevthe view of the old city. Because of the sloping site the city is known as the city of 1000 steps. Since 2005 the city is a UNESCO heritage. For 200 Lekë you can visit a part of the Castle. For 200 Lekë you can visit the museum inside the Castle. It's about history and personalities in Gijrokasta. In the city you also can visit traditional osman buildings and the birthplace of the dictator Enver Hoxha.
