This plant is a thorny shrub, which has its origin in Madagascar, it is a very resistant plant, it needs a lot of sun, but by storing water in its stem, it does not need much irrigation. What we can think of as flowers are not are actually really bracts, which can be red, white or pink, the flowers are very tiny and are inside the bracts, (the leaves that accompany the flowers).
It is often found in hedges, because its thorns prevent the passage of animals.
