Hi!
I've been in Wrocław a few times but never really got to know it. A good chance appeared a few weeks ago during the release of 'My Italy' movie. It's a Polish - Italian coproduction directed by Bruno Colella and it happened I shot some scenes for it 3 years ago. It was an episode about Polish sculpturer Krzysztof Bednarski After some perturbations they finally finished it and I was invited for a premiere during New Horizons movie festival. You can find all the info about the film in Google :)
But to don't waste time during a trip I also decided to make an aerial session above Wrocław for POLAND ON AIR project. In case you haven't heard of it I want to create a photobook comprised of the aerial photographs of the biggest cities in Poland. I'm collecting the funds for it on crowdfunding platform http://pomagam.pl/polandonair.com, and I also want to fund it thanks to our dear Steemit, which I believe is a huge opportunity for Internet artists to develop their career, and I want to prove it to the others :)
So it came out one of my colleagues from high school is a pilot and by that time he was going to Wrocław. Unfortunately there was a misunderstanding between us and he was thinking I want to shoot night aerial photos at 1-2 AM, while for me it's too dark by that time. In the end we met for a sunrise photos, and to save some money we slept in a car :)
We woke up at 3 AM and went for the entrance to General Aviation airport Strachowice, which is a passenger's airplane. Norbert became to prepare our small Cessna 152, and I shot some clips for my videoblog (you can subscribe it here: http://bit.ly/2s5ZXtA :) ). It was already getting bright so I decided to start immediately. You can see how it looked like in a video above :)
Wrocław is the 5th biggest city in Poland when it comes to area with 292 km2 (To compare Warsaw is 517km2 big), and 4th when it comes to population with over 637,000 people (in Warsaw lives over 1,7 millions of people). I wondered how a smaller city than the one I photographed earlier would look like from above during weak light conditions.
It came out Wrocław looks beautiful from above and it's probably one of the most attractive city in Poland to capture from above. Odra river divides within the city in two and when it reflects the light from a rising sun it looks truly magical. There are also islands on the river and the main part of Wrocław is technically an island too. Check out the Sępolno, which is an eagle-shaped estate, but you can see it only from above :) You can see all of it on my photographs :)
The session went out well and I hope you liked the pictures! After the landing we took some sleep and headed back to Warsaw.
If you liked my post and photos please don't forget to leave a comment and upvote it :) I plan to show the real power of Steemit and... fund my next flight with the Steem Dollars! I already collected some money and I plan to use the amount gained until now to pay for my next flying photo session :) It still seems abstract to me but it's going to happen :) And thanks to it many more people will get to know about our platform. Keep your fingers crossed!
Cheers!
