I saw the vast spheres looming on the distant hill. My feet smeared with mud and bracken, I stumbled, crazy and wild towards these futuristic orbs. What were they? What did they want from me? Why could I not resist their call? What waited for me in their wombs?
When I first saw the spy station, I felt it's troubled structure calling to me. It's little head poked out from the forest like an otter from some coarse and brambled void:
Soon I was closer. I checked my Guide to the Galaxy. It said:
Teufelsberg (German for Devil's Mountain) is a man-made hill in Berlin, Germany, in the Grunewald locality of former West Berlin... The US National Security Agency (NSA) built one of its largest listening stations atop the hill, rumored to be part of the global ECHELON intelligence gathering network. "The Hill", as it was known colloquially by the many American soldiers who worked there around the clock.
