According to Wikipedia the geodesic home is based on a polyhedron. Triangular elements that distribute stress to make a stronger structural design.
Having always enjoyed different types of architecture, it really bothered me to watch this house sit abandoned for many years. When driving by it the other day, it pleased me to see the new owners have restored it to its original beauty. Geodesic homes are known for hurricane resistance, and wind resistance in general. However, building one can be expensive, as the angular cuts both inside and out, plus heavy duty windows cut into a triangle, is both time consuming and can leave a lot of wasted material.
