Pixelsorting the North Sea
I've been in Denmark with some friends and took some photographs at the beach. When I got home I wrote myself a little python-script to process these images. It's just using lines (arrays) of pixels and sorting them in a beautiful aesthetic way. The result is an really abstract image, combining the natural organic motion of the waves and sand with the strictly ordered digital sorting algorithm.
Somehow it creates a kind of digital plastique or another layered dimension, strange and glitchy.
I would be happy to hear about your interpretations and feel free to discuss
