Notre-Dame d'Afrique is a Catholic basilica, situated at the top of a promontory overlooking the Mediterranean, the Notre Dame d'Afrique basilica was built in the middle of the 19th century, the work was completed in 1866 and the building is completed and consecrated in 1872.
The Notre-Dame d'Afrique basilica is considered to be the counterpart of Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde in Marseille (France), Consecrated in 1872 by Mgr Lavigerie founder of the White Fathers, the basilica is dedicated to the Virgin.
The basilica is open to visitors from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., daily mass is at 6 p.m.
It has been a symbol of cultural mixing and religious coexistence for 160 years.
Witness the famous inscription in the choir: "Our Lady of Africa, pray for us and for the Muslims".
As well as another sentence : "Brotherly love comes from God, he is God himself".
