Hey Steemians,
It's that time again to gather my thoughts and processes.
Smart phone cameras are everywhere, many of us have viable photography equipment sitting in our pockets, purses, backpacks and don't think of using them for creative photography. Generally it's used for snap happy candid moment.
Quality and limited lens options put people off, but in all honesty these constraints can be enlightening. You have less to worry about and focus on just the subject at hand.
Of course smart phone cameras have come on leaps and bounds over the years, so quality is becoming less of an issue. Let's take examples from some of my own photos.
Lightning captured on a Sony Xperia Z1
We had a lightning storm that created some amazing night sky's photo opportunities. I actually failed to capture this on my mirrorless Olympus camera... But on my mobile it seemed to be an easier task.
The Hearts Series
I had this idea to create a series of images related to 💓 shapes. Here I was able to grab my phone the instant either inspiration hit me or a moment in time that would have been lost other wise. Such as my son playing with his cars.
1: The Crusty Heart
2: The Heart That Crumbled
3: The Bleeding Heart
4: The Breaking Heart
5:** The Heart of Darkness**
Light Grid
I had been at a hospital cafe lately which had this grand light/ceiling fixing. When I looked up I loved the structure it created. As a photo it builds on the simplicity in design but generates complexity in details, lighting and reflection. In Just a small section of the decor.
#Googlyeyes Mr Onion
'Mr onion just couldn't crack a smile anymore, after Mr potatoheads fryer accident. :-D '
Of course you can have alot of fun, here's my entry for the #googlyeyes contest hosted by . Again all done on mobile, with colour correction and crop handled by the built in editor.
Final Thoughts
If your an avid photographer or just beginning, try not to disregard you smartphone camera too quickly. It may be the device that sparks your creativity or let's you snap a photo you would normally miss.
