At number one you voted Rome as the most beautiful city in the world. With its thousand-year-old buildings, beautiful piazzas and world-class art – not to mention Vatican City – it’s certainly no surprise. Rome, after all, is the capital of the so-called bel paese, or “beautiful country”.
