Ancient farmers built this pueblo called Tuzigoot (Apache for crooked water) over a thousand years ago. As you can see, the land is still green and fertile along the Verde River near what is now the town of Clarkdale, Arizona. The Sinagua people that populated this area disappeared suddenly, never to be seen again after the 1400's.
Montezuma Well is in Rimrock AZ. The Sinagua People used the water from this sink hole to irrigate their crops of corn, squash and beans for hundreds of years.
