Flatbellies

These dragonflies are called "platbuik" in Dutch, which translates as "flatbelly". The English name is the less flattering broad-bodied chaser (Libellula depressa).

We found them yesterday sitting at the water's edge, as we were:

Those two are males; the females are yellow:
