This is the second day of my hike in the the Eagle Mountains (Orlické Mountains), Czechia. After I slept in the open, another day full of adventures is awaiting. This time it is a military special! Why? Keep on reading to find out 😀
If you have not had a chance to read about the previous day, head over here.
Cover photo of this post: Silhouette at the edge of a bunker called Průsek.
Good morning, sunshine. It is quarter to 6 AM. Quick breakfast and ready to go! Two miles this direction, there is next stop.
There we are. A lookout tower at the mountain Anenský vrch (992 m.a.s.l.). 17 meters tall, 65 stairs to climb. It is 9 AM.
Now eager to enjoy the views!
Moving on. As mentioned in the post about previous day of this hike, there are going to be some military buildings. Here is the first - an infantry bunker R-S 87, Průsek.
I am not a fan of this, still must get closer and check it out.
It is closed today.
You can easily check its roof.
A torso of another bunker on the road.
The Hanička Fortress. Actually part of its ventilation system. This larger bunker is quite popular. You can buy ticket and spend some time there as museum is there too. Paradise for military enthusiasts.
Rusty tank.
Armored splinter bell.
An army truck.
Yet another bunker Na Holém.
This is part of its property.
Last but not least, bunker Nízká.
Oh! It looks like you can go up.
At last. Some rest on the roof of bunker.
Not the same kind, still living together. This is double T - True Tree love.
A rock formation at Zemská brána.
A cyclist of the past.
Look! Subaru parking only 😆
Now it gets interesting a bit. I choose a path outside civilization. It goes through Poland. On the road, this cool seating is offered to a tired hiker. This time I pass.
Oh dear! Last visitors going through here were... just cows. Must hurry up as the train is leaving soon 😆
After I break out of the mess and all the cowpats. Unexpected! To my astonishment, finally splendid views emerge. Moreover, it is the legendary mountain ridge of Králický Sněžník. If you like, you can read more about it in my previous hike-post here. I am so happy to see it!
Zoom-zoom. For those who know, there is a lookout tower visible, it is called Klepáč.
A quite common plant linaria (toadflax) with the ridge in the background. Love these meadows! No one is there.
This is almost end of the journey as down there, there is Lichkov (Czechia). A village from where I take train back home.
This moment I consider crossing of the Eagle Mountains finished. Overall, it was cool ridge-way, wasn't it? Now waiting for the train. It is awfully hot and sultry. This double refreshment comes in handy 😀
Waiting for another connection in Zábřeh na Moravě, some 30 kilometers as the crow flies. Finally, enjoying the longed-for beer from the Zábřeh brewery - Welzl. Sadly, the bread-made beer is not on tap, still their classic lager is simply fantastic #beersaturday
A semi-dark one.
Good beer in the first place, it says. And this is the last shot of this photory-story.
Here is the itinerary:
Just to illustrate how many military buildings you can find along the borderline. This is just a part though, if you zoom in there are way more of these.
