Looks like an alien doesn't he? This is a Red Bishop during his transformation period. From grey to red and black.
I had no time to take any photos today and so I decided to share this treasure of mine. All of the shots were taken by me in the garden of our old home in Johannesburg.
Hope you enjoy the pictures!
Let's start at the beginning! At the front you can see the red bishop that this post is about and at the back you can see one that is more developed. The Red Bishop is of the Weaver Family.
The little white feathers on his chest are all falling out to be replaced by pitch black feathers and the greyish strands on his head will transform into the same black, while the feathers around his neck will be replaced by beautiful red ones.
And here is the final result! A complete transformation from an dour little grey bird to the beauty of a Bishop!
One of mother nature's best lessons is to teach us as humans to accept natural change. Sadly so many of us cling either to the past, or to our comfort. Let's face it, many of us are scared of change, but here we are shown that nothing is a constant. As long as the change is for the better, it's a good thing. We are all on a short journey on this planet and we should ensure that we get the most out of this life.
