They are wild and normally they scatter at the sight of humans. So what's different here?
Here's the difference! This youngster did not fly away in fright! I told Lady Marian not to move.
Look at this! He walked right up to her to look at the fruit and she was in 7th heaven. This has never happened before!
And then he nonchalantly took a piece of strawberry to taste. Right next to Lady Marian. What a sight!
And then he started to search for another piece of fruit! No fear and calm as ever, he stayed to eat his fill before he flew away.
The lesson to me here is that love and kindness can overcome any fear!
The Loerie family visits every day with their 3 youngsters to feed in our garden and as soon as we appear, the parents take off in fright with the youngsters following them.
But not this day! This youngster decided to face his fear and to take the risk.
The result was trust, love and kindness. Totally unexpected!
He could have repeated his parent's life of fear, but his trust in himself set him free!
Think about it!
Note: We will never try to touch him, or to tame him, simply because we have respect for his freedom.
