Sailing vessel Vagabond is below among the moored boats; I always love to see it from a distance, heart butterflies! WE CAUGHT the MOORING BALL by SAIL!
We’ve been to this island twice this season and the second arrival coming from Guadeloupe in the North, we sailed into the bay after great winds all day and the pleasure of not needed to start the engine outside of leaving the dock. I pride myself on my newly developed skill of mooring ball grabbing. We brought the jib down when we entered the bay, sailing with the main at a delicate creeping speed to the mooring and, in local island parlance, VOILA! A perfect way to end a beautiful sailing day. The obviously skilled captain, smiled a pleased smile I hadn’t seen before. Always successful in a plethora of mooring ball scenarios, this one made me extra confident in my assisting abilities.
The view from the said mooring ball.
