Good day Steemians of the world!
Today, I would like to share a few pictures taken on a hike in belgium. The area is called Baraque Michel and is full with Bog plains.
Every place in the world looks amazing in Winter, covered in a thick blanket of snow but this place really is magic! I hope you will enjoy the pictures!
Adventurous paths and bridges lead you through a patchwork of impressive peat moss bumps, heathy vegetations, small fens and drenched jungle forests. You walk under gnarled birch and willows, on which countless species of mosses and lichens grow, to enjoy a panoramic view of an almost bare, undulating peat plain. When you walk on the plains it's better to really stay on the wooden bridges because the ground is really wet and breaking a leg is not what you want on a hike!
Sancte Petre, ora pro nobis
When you take a long walk you will find the Fischbach chapel! In days of the past, they would sound the bell in foggy and bad weather to lead lost travelers to the chapel and the inn a bit further away! When walking here, you realize that getting lost is very easy here! Two Kilometers from the inn ( Baraque Michel ) and Fischbach chapel You will find the Croix des Fiancées, cross of the betrothed! The cross tells the dramatic story of two young people lost in a blizzard. They were on there way to get the paper work done for their mariage. They froze to death. I don't have a picture of the cross because we did not see it! But if you google it you can see it if you like
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the information! I hope to post even more pictures soon!
