Take a trip into West Yorkshire, U.K. and you will surely see this pinnacle of engineering on the landscape.
At 1084 feet tall (330.4 metres), the telecommunications tower at Emley Moor is the tallest free standing structure in the United Kingdom. 20 metres (66 ft) taller than the Shard, in London.
Pumping out a whopping amount of power and covering an area of over 10,000 km², the tower at Emley Moor, dominates the skyline in many miles of each direction and has been providing television and radio services for over 40 years.
Transmissions have been eminating from this behemoth since 1971.
The scale can only be appreciated when up close & all made from a continual, single pouring of concrete.
It does however need an upgrade and a make-over, so to speak. So over the next four years a temporary mast will be constructed alongside, and of equal height in order to assume its duties.
