Walk Wednesday
The walls may not have ears, but the trees certainly have eyes in these parts. There is always something to see for those willing to keep a keen watch. Most humans can't help decorating, from gardeners to the spirituality and zen inclined.
This Buddha is tucked aside in the West End, maintaining its serenity through the rain, the odd snowfall, and into the Spring and Summer. It sits beneath a camellia tree that is approaching a full bloom. Some beautiful soul gathered up the petals a laid them in Siddhartha's stone lap.
The statue has rested here for more than a decade. For how long, I am not sure. It's serenity and grace is powerful, but still no match for nature.
Little by little, the growth of moss is wrestling away the enlightened one's grip on the material world.
If you are ever in Vancouver and have the time be sure to spin past 889 Beach Avenue, the Pacific Building, to check out this fabulous series of mosaic en grande of Lyse Lemieux, Personnages.
I chastised myself at first for never noticing this spectacular piece of architectural art, but then I noted that it was only a year and a bit old.
The discovery however has inspired me to be more on the look out for other oft-missed art in unexpected places and to share with Hivelanders.
So keep exploring and noticing, and pay attention to what is watching you. By now I am sure everyone has seen this kind of tree art but I though this one was unique. I think Mr. Tree might need a rest.
Pretty sure these are a variation of crocus. The leaves fit and the timing of its bloom, but they are a bit different and have an almost burnt undertone. I am calling them fire crocus because they do look like a flame.

I was taken too with the spoiled bloom that despite being used up managed to hold onto its color and a certain graceful line. It reminded me of the squash blooms who still lie months away.
Nature really is an amazing artist. Effortless and par excellence in mis en scene. But then I can almost hear her answer back ... what ... this old thing.
Well, that is my #wednesdaywalk. A hearty shoutout to for hosting the day. Make sure to get out there and enjoy a walk and take a visit to his blog.
