Frank and John jamming during the impromptu "Dixieland" concert aboard the USS Spiegel Beagle on one of our CaribbeanOps cruises. My recollection is that some officer, out of the blue, put out the order for us to "entertain the troops" -- there was some grumbling, but it was still fun. Jery, one of our sax players, is the dude in the back laughing, maybe because he wasn't one of the chosen ones.
A few years ago another band member from this tour informed me that the USS Spiegel Beagle was sunk somewhere in the ocean.
