It was just a few days before I would leave Dublin to move back to Amsterdam again. My friend and I needed some quality time before saying goodbye. We decided to do the cliff walk in Howth, which showed us we both have terrible timing.
I have great memories of this moment. I have almost forgotten about the cold and wetness. We knew the rain was coming but we wanted to do it anyway. With only 1 small umbrella we started walking. The sky became darker and darker. We would create many selfies to capture the different moments on this walk. Thumbs-up if everything was going well... Thumbs-down if everything sucked. We started with a full thumbs-up. When we got a little lost, it would change into thumbs-meh. In the middle of terrible rainfall, it would become thumbs-down.
We are sitting here at a rock overlooking the waters near Howth, wondering if we should regret doing this. There was no shelter and we were 30 minutes away from the end, where we could warm up. The rain became worse and there was a threat of some thunder. But we were both so happy we were able to do this together that it didn't matter.
I am so happy that she came all the way from the other side of Ireland, just to say goodbye. And it warms my heart that she was willing to join me on this hike despite the awful weather (she probably is still cold). I still miss our long talks with the many "we should stop now"'s. We don't talk much anymore but won't quit when we do. The best flat-mate that I ever had!
