There are so many ways people have expressed their love to one another. There is one way love was expressed by a man to his wife that has caused people to come from all over the world to lay eyes on his expression of love. The Taj Mahal
“Not a piece of architecture as other buildings are, but the proud passion of an emperor’s love wrought in living stones.” ~ Sir Edwin Arnold, English Poet
The Taj Mahal is a white marble and ivory mausoleum located on the south bank of the Yamuna river in Agra, India. It was commissioned in 1632 by the heartbroken Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan for his beloved wife Arjujamand Banu (who he had bestowed in their earlier years of marriage, the title of Mumtaz Mahal meaning the jewel of the palace) after she died in child birth.
It took 22 years to build and the labor of 22,000 workers. The cost estimated at the time to be then around 32 million rupees, which in 2015 would be 52.8 billion rupees or (US$827 million) It is also one of the seven wonders of the world.
The following pictures of the Taj Mahal spread out over 5 separate post which capture the main structures of the Taj Mahal (more post are available on blog.)
