Hi all,
Today I took my first photo of the stars and it made sense, they are all there as the textbook said they would be!
I was looking towards the south in a clear and cold night and I found the only thing I now, Orion's belt.
From there I made several attempts on getting focus just right and in meantime I was reading up on the stars.
I only had a 50mm lens available and I was not able to move out from all the light (I was watching the kids) so I set it up by the 500/600 rule and ended up with 10/13sec opening time. The result was good enough for me at this stage as I know now much more about taking pictures of the stars and that I need to trial and error on manual focusing, and once the settings are in place shot away! :)
What do we see in the picture?
Orion's belt (of course), Betelgeuse up to the left corner, Meissa and Bellatrix on the opposite side and Saiph Rigel below Orion's belt.
I will definitely do more of this in the future, it was exciting and I learned a lot just from this :)
