Epirus
Epirus is a rugged and mountainous region of northwestern Greece. It lies between the Pindus Mountains and the Ionian Sea. The largest city in Epirus is Ioannina. Two weeks ago, I visited Konitsa and the villages of Zagori and Pogoni, which are located near the Albanian borders. The town was built amphitheatrically-shaped on a mountain slope of the Pindos mountain range from where it overlooks the valley where the river Aoos meets the river Voidomatis and there is the arched bridge of Konitsa(1870). Those places have a distinct beauty, far away from the typical sights tourists expect to find in Greece. This means there is a raw and original character in those people and those places. If you want to discover a different Greece, you should visit Epirus.
