If you're not familiar with Calabria, it's the tip of the boot in Italy.

This is really old Europe, Homo erectus was hanging out on this coastline 700,000 years ago. I've been hesitant to share these photos because they were taken with a primitive non-SLR camera on my first trip to Calabria. Yesterday I was trying some photo effects on free use stock photos of cliff houses in Italy (see below) -- one of the many things to love about Italy. Kalabrien ist an der Spitze des Stiefels in Italien.

Das ist wirklich "Old Europe,, der Homo erectus war vor 700.000 Jahren hier an dieser Küste zu Hause. Ich habe gezögert, diese Fotos zu zeigen, weil sie bei meiner ersten Reise nach Kalabrien mit einer primitiven Nicht-SLR-Kamera aufgenommen wurden. Aber gestern habe ich mit Fotoeffekte auf freiverwendbare Fotos von Klippenhäusern in Italien experimentiert (siehe oben) -- diese Klippenhäuser sind eine von den vielen Dingen, die man in Italien bestaunen kann. Obwohl meine Fotos von Kalabrien nicht ganz so spektakulär sind beschloss ich, sie dennoch mit euch zu teilen.
bf P1010039.jpg It was a bitter cold snowy day in January in Munich when we boarded the plane for the short flight (722.34 mi (1,162.49 km.) When we arrived it was chilly for the Italian, but it was warm to us. This is, however, the off season and everything was sleepy and relaxed. Our hotel, (seen above) was on a hill overlooking the Mediterranean, a couple of kilometers (a little over a mile) outside of town.We felt like we had the place to ourselves. The next morning after breakfast we opted to walk along the beach to town rather than take the hotel bus. The locals have wonderful paths and trails that wind down the hill to the rocky beach. bf P1010035.jpg Es war ein bitterkalter verschneiter Tag im Januar, als wir das Flugzeug in München für den kurzen Flug bestiegen. Als wir ankamen, war es recht kühl für die Italiener, aber warm und sonnig für uns. Es war Neben-Saison und deshalb ruhig und entspannt. Unser Hotel, (siehe oben) war auf einem Hügel mit Blick auf das Mittelmeer, ein paar Kilometer außerhalb der Kleinstadt. Wir hatten das Gefühl, als ob wir den Platz für uns alleine hätten . Am nächsten Morgen nach dem Frühstück haben wir uns entschieden, am Strand entlang in die Stadt zu gehen, anstatt mit dem Hotelbus zu fahren. Es gibt wunderbare Wege und Pfade, die den Hügel hinunter zum felsigen Strand führen.
